Indonesia approves purchase of five Airbus A400M military airlifters

The Indonesian government reportedly approved the purchase of five Airbus A400M transport aircraft. According to Jane’s, Indonesia gave its green light to a US$2 bn acquisition project to boost airlift capabilities of the Indonesian Air Force, it was confirmed on Jan. 18. Read more

China's 31st Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class) Commissioned in PLAN East Sea Fleet

A commissioning, naming and flag-presenting ceremony of the new Ezhou (hull number 513) Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class) of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) was held solemnly on January 18 at the Shacheng Naval Base (Fujian province). The event means the vessel is officially commissioned to the PLAN. Ezhou is the thirty-first Type 056 Corvette delivered to the PLAN fleet and the ninth Type 056A variant specialized in anti-submarine warfare (ASW).

Russian soldiers of the 106th Airborne Division based in the Tula Region in central Russia have started combat training at the Dubrovichi training range in the Ryazan Region with the use of advanced BMD-4M airborne fighting vehicles, the Defense Ministry’s press office said. A-222E Bereg-E and Bal-E Modern Coastal Defense Systems from Russia

The coastal defense is one of the major tasks placed before armed forces of world`s littoral states. Northrop Grumman Integrated Defence Services (IDS), a fully-owned Australian subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corporation, has signed an agreement with Lufthansa Technik AG for the provision of services in support of the Royal Australian Air Force’s fleet of KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft. Rolls-Royce To Supply MTU Engines For Damen Search and Rescue Vessels In Turkey

Rolls-Royce will supply MTU diesel engines for six new search and rescue vessels to be built by Damen Shipyards and operated by the Turkish Coastguard. Damen Shipyards has been awarded a contract by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Ankara to build the vessels which will each feature two 8-cylinder MTU Series 2000 engines. The boats will support ongoing operations to rescue migrants and refugees from crisis areas along the Turkish coast. They are designed to be self-righting, should they capsize, the MTU engines will keep on running even in the extreme event that the vessel completes a full 360° vertical roll around its longitudinal axis. The MTU brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

Russia & Turkey conduct first joint bombing mission against Daesh
